What is TVNR?

T- Trap

TVNR stands for Trap–Neuter–Vaccinate–Return.


Community cats are humanely trapped using safe, baited cages by trained volunteers. The process is designed to be gentle and non-stressful for the cats
Traps are designed to avoid injury or stress.
The process is monitored closely to ensure cats are not left unattended.

N – Neuter

Cats are surgically sterilized at a veterinary clinic to stop the reproductive cycle.


Once trapped, cats are taken to a veterinary clinic where they are neutered to prevent future litters.
This prevents thousands of future births over the cat’s lifetime.
A small “ear tip” is often performed (a painless snip of the ear) to visually mark that the cat has been sterilized.

V – Vaccinate

Each cat is vaccinated to prevent the spread of disease.


While under veterinary care, each cat is vaccinated against common diseases such as rabies and feline distemper.
Helps maintain a healthy and disease-free colony.
Sick or injured cats receive medical attention when needed.

R – Return

Cats are released in the same area they were trapped — the place they know as home.


After recovery, the cats are returned to their original location — now healthier, sterilized, and no longer contributing to overpopulation.
After recovery, cats are returned to their original territory.
Reduces community complaints and animal control costs.
